The Studio Dogs
Nikko
Nikko won’t sit still and
keeps running off to look for cookies, chews and intruders. Then he gets tired and needs to have
a rest.
Nikko spends most of his day in the armchair in my study watching through
the window for things to bark at
Hannah
Not only is Hannah cute, she sits still
and is photogenic so she gets painted a lot. She usually lays under my worktable
next to the easel and her nose pokes out. Although I’m always worried that I will
drop a glob of paint on her head it hasn't happened yet.
I often
paint to the accompaniment of Hannah snoring.
Sammy
Sammy was our first dog and the only one
we’ve ever had from a puppy. He was obsessed with squirrels, cats and tennis balls (and was
looking at one when this photo was taken).
It took me a full year after we lost him to cancer to be able to paint his portrait.
Maddie
Maddie was a doggie princess.
Among other things she trained me to give her a cookie before she would come back in the house
after a walk and carry her (all 80lbs) up and down the stairs.
Maddie adopted Hannah (see above), starting a whole new cycle of Bland
family dogs.
